Carbon dioxide and argon usually need a Coriolis mass flow meter when density changes or when batching accuracy matters. Wet or dirty gases such as biogas from anaerobic digesters may require a thermal mass meter with a purge system or a differential pressure meter with proper filtering.


Here is the thing. Most engineers skip the gas composition check. If the gas is not dry air, the thermal mass meter needs a field calibration for the specific gas mixture.
